The past month or so I have tried to cut the word "perfect" out of my vocabulary. It started after talking to my friends Taylor and Kalen. We were talking about boys (naturally, a cliché girly topic) and I had said something about "the perfect guy." I thought Taylor was going to jump me by her quick response of "no guy is perfect." And how true!?
No one is perfect, and to try and even put that pressure on someone is too great a responsibility! I couldn't imagine if someone expected for every movement, every thought, every word out of my mouth to be perfect. How exhausting! And not to mention impossible.
We're only human. We are supposed to make mistakes; that's how we learn. Most things won't go as planned, and that's okay. It's just life. No biggie. No need to stress about being "perfect" 24/7.
Being an English major, I'm a grammar and word fanatic. I love using words in their literal sense and coming up with alternative words to convey a meaning. This challenge of mine has gotten my creative juices flowing as well as being fantastically fun! I can't tell you how many times I have stopped myself from saying the "p" word. Plus, there are so many excellent synonyms: astounding, whiz-bang, fantastic, veracious, legendary, phenomenal, wicked, sensational, out of sight, tremendous. Oh my gosh! So many alternatives!
So as much as I would love to call my new sandals (thanks, momma!) and overalls perfect, I think I may have to just settle with calling them "the bees knees." And doesn't that sound SO much cooler, anyways?!
My confession: I am cutting the word "perfect" out of my vocabulary, and I am loving the challenge of coming up with alternative words!
PS: Have you noticed
how much I love to use
parentheses?! Geesh, I guess
I need to cool it with those
fun little guys!
